Students Honored for Top-of-Class, Academic Department Achievements

More than 110 students were honored by their academic departments and Office of Academic Affairs at this year’s Honors and Awards Ceremony for scholastic achievements, leadership, character, and potential for future success.
In the final week of the 2024-25 academic year, more than 110 undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their scholastic, leadership, character, and potential for career success in this year’s Honors and Awards Ceremony at the Hatfield Hall Theater. The list included 72 scholars achieving top-of-class academic status.
Several of the high-achieving seniors are preparing to begin their careers in science, engineering, and mathematics or continue their education in master’s and doctoral degree programs at prestigious universities and colleges throughout the country.
Earning top class academic honors, based on the highest grade point average and having the highest number of graded credit hours in each student class, following the 2023-24 school year, were: Ben Lyons, a mathematics and physics major, the Carl Wischmeyer Award as the outstanding junior; Will Geoghegan and Mark Serdinak, both mechanical engineering students, the Paul N. Bogart Prize as the outstanding sophomore; and Mason Rice, a computer science major, the Heminway Bronze Medal as the outstanding first-year student.
Recognized as Carl Wischmeyer Scholars for having top grade point averages after their junior year (2023-24) were Salik Ahmad, Ariadna Duvall, Natalie Hannum, Kaylee Lane, Henry Nunns, Hannah Ponstine, Vineet Ranade, Justin Roberts, Josh Schrock, Ellen Shales, and Isaac Towne.
Named Paul N. Bogart Scholars for being top of the class academically after the sophomore year (2023-24) were Kyle Asbury, Tommaso Calviello, Drew Cameron, Kevin Cotellesso, John Dickinson, Cynthia Gallegos Rodriguez, Eli Granade, McKenna Gumerson, Yejia Hao, Ethan Hutton, Travis Judson, Jared Kagay, Edward Kang, Lauren Marquardt, Jaxon Naviaux, Connor O’Connell, Steven Reese, Cale Royer, Chong-Yi Su, Blaise Swartwood, Rebecca Testa, and Alex Yim.
Heminway Scholars recognition were bestowed on the following top-ranked first-year students (after 2023-24 school year): Jeremy Bergman, Brianna Bittel, Samantha Bui, Pei-Jen Chen, David Creen, Maxwell Danielson, Gabriella Ezzell, Adam Fucela, Jacob Gerber, Jonathon Hammond, Ethan Harden, Will Hartman, Brett Hixon, Nathan Hodson, Wenxin Huang, Toehyeon Kim, Lukas Lambert, Irene Lema Madueno, Mark Li, J.J.
